Dwayne Johnson makes his debut on the cover of the Esquire Magazine for the month of August. He talks about going from wrestling to acting in movies. He talks about his production company and how in the early 90’s he only had $7 in his wallet. That is a 5 dollar bill, a 1 dollar bill and some change. He also paid tribute to his two beautiful girls (His girlfriend Lauren of 8 1/2 years and his 13 year old daughter Simone). He states that not many people want to ask about his personal life and he wants that to change because after all, family is what’s important to him. He goes behind the scenes of Esquire in the video below.

As Ballers ended last week, we saw Spencer was at the ATM attempting to get cash only to find out that he had insufficient funds. His female companion asks if everything is ok and he simply reassures her that it is.

Episode 2 begins with Spencer walking into his office having a conversation with a Mrs. Loanstein. Joe walks up and joins in on the conversation and privately asks Spencer into his office. Going into the office, Joe asks Spencer if he saw the clip Ricky did. Joe wants Spencer to stop playing small ball and to climb into the big leagues. Spencer tells Joe that he verbally signed one of the biggest players Vernon Littlefield. He then informs him that the paperwork isn’t all the way in the door. Joe wants Littlefield signed ASAP.

Ballers premiered on HBO last night and to sum it up in one word, the word would be Wow. From beginning to end the show had you. In the beginning it showed how loss can affect someone and by the end it showed that when you think you have done right by someone you will end up rethinking your actions. Bravo to the whole team that put Ballers together. If you missed out on the pilot check out the video below.

In ring presence and a physique chiseled from stone weren’t the only heirlooms The Rock inherited from his WWE Hall of Fame father, Rocky Johnson. The Great One and The Soul Man were also both holders of WWE’s World Tag Team Championship. Johnson, in fact, made history with his own title win, as he was part of the first African-American tandem — along with Tony Atlas — to claim that particular mantle. The Rock made his old man proud, winning the title five times during his WWE career, notching three runs as one half of The Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection with Mick Foley, one reign with Chris Jericho, and one championship, blink-and-you’ll-miss it stint alongside The Undertaker. Seriously.

Dwayne Johnson is having a hell of a year, with Furious 7 and San Andreas already behind him and his new HBO show Ballers ahead of him. And we’re hoping his winning streak will continue into 2016 with Central Intelligence, from Dodgeball and We’re the Millers director Rawson Marshall Thurber.

The new comedy stars Johnson as Bob, described by Johnson as “Tom Hanks in Big with an added twist.” The twist being that sweet, simple Bob is a super intelligent, extra deadly CIA contract killer. Get your Central Intelligence first look after the jump.

Johnson shared the first photo of himself in Central Intelligence on Instagram, along with a detailed description of his character Bob.

In Central Intelligence, Kevin Hart plays an accountant who was a big deal in high school. As the class reunion approaches, he’s contacted by a former classmate, Bob (Johnson), who was picked on back in the day. The former “loser” is now a CIA contract killer, and he gets Hart’s character involved in a plan to stop a sale of classified military secrets.

Johnson and Hart should make for a pretty funny pairing. Buddy comedies are kind of Hart’s thing (see also: Ride Along, The Wedding Ringer, Get Hard) and Johnson is the kind of charismatic performer who seems to have great chemistry with everyone. It’s also nice to see Johnson in a straight-up comedy, as he can be very funny when he wants to be.

Ike Barinholtz and Dave Stassen wrote the original script for Central Intelligence, which has since been reworked by Sean Anders and John Morris, Peter Steinfeld, and Thurber himself. The project has been kicking around since 2009, when Ed Helms was attached to Hart’s role. Helms now serves as executive producer.

Also starring in Central Intelligence are Amy Ryan as a CIA operative going after Bob, and Danielle Nicolet as Hart’s childhood sweetheart and now wife. Only Johnson appears in this first-look photo, sadly, but there’s still plenty of time to get better looks at all of the other characters.

Warner Bros. has Central Intelligence in theaters June 17, 2016.

It’s okay, Kurt Russell. Getting replaced by The Rock isn’t a dishonor by any stretch of the imagination—especially after San Andreas raked in almost $115 million worldwide for his best opening weekend ever. Dwayne Johnson is currently in talks to star in and produce a remake of the John Carpenter classic Big Trouble in Little China, EW has confirmed. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who wrote the sleek X-Men: First Class, are attached to pen the script. The Wrap first reported the development.
Naturally, Johnson would play Jack Burton, a trucker lured into the seedy, magical underworld in San Francisco’s Chinatown. The original, which starred Russell and Kim Cattrall, grossed a meek $11 million at the box office, but has become retroactively beloved.

UPDATE, 1:30 PM: Warner Bros.-New Line/Village Roadshow’s San Andreas is looking pretty sturdy. Early industry estimates show an estimated $15M Friday with an opening weekend of $39M-$41M. That’s right above the vicinity of Dwayne Johnson’s solo openers, i.e. The Scorpion King ($36.1M) and Hercules ($29.8M), and on par with the actor’s franchise sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation ($40.5M). Fueling the friction on San Andreas‘ plates are 3,200 3D engagements out of its 3,777 total and Imax showtimes, which the Brad Peyton-helmed film is splitting with Walt Disney’s Tomorrowland.

Hercules posted a first Friday of $11.05M last July. Scorpion King which bowed 13 years ago in late April, minted $12.6M. According to tracking this morning, San Andreas was the most popular with men over 25 with a 91% total awareness and 16% first choice.

While Sony’s Aloha could take second tonight with an estimated $4.5M at 2,815 venues, it looks to wind up with a weekend of $12.3M which could put it fourth for the weekend behind Tomorrowland in second and Universal’s Pitch Perfect 2 in third. Aloha in tracking is hitting women over 25 at 71%, but with a low first choice for the demo at 6%.

Whoa San Andreas is start to finish so much better than it has any right to be….
PREVIOUS, 7:13 AM: San Andreas shook $3.1M out of moviegoers’ pockets last night. Sony’s Cameron Crowe romantic comedy Aloha also started hula-dancing with $500K at 2,275 theaters.

The Warner Bros.-New Line/Village Roadshow title is hoping for a $40M launch for the Brad Peyton film, which marks the director’s second outing with star Dwayne Johnson after Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. San Andreas will be sending seismic shocks into 3,777 theaters today, 85% of which are in 3D. Titles in the Roland Emmerich canon, i.e. 2012 and The Day After Tomorrrow, are the high points with the disaster film at the B.O., repping the genre’s heyday. 2012 posted a first Friday of $23.4M before raking in a $65.2M weekend, while TDAT, a Memorial Day release, also earned a first Friday of $23.5M followed by a $68.7M FSS.

San AndreasPer Fandango, San Andreas is far and away the weekend’s top ticket seller. San Andreas is outselling Johnson’s previous actioners Hercules and Journey 2 at the same point in the Fandango sales cycle. Last night’s ticket sales are, of course, rolled into Friday’s results.

On social, Dwayne Johnson, who is quite active, has a reach of 72.8M folks across Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. While the San Andreas Facebook page only has 526K followers according to RelishMix, the page’s videos are driving impressions very well with 65.2M Facebook total views and the top San Andreas trailer from March at 44M views. YouTube views are building well over the last week up to 29M with top daily views on the 70k per day range. Reposting is also strong at an earned, owned ration of 24 to 1.

Other good news for Warner Bros.: Their Mad Max: Fury Road crossed the $100M mark on Wednesday with its current cume at $102.3M.

While this weekend will obviously be down from the holiday frame a week ago, it is certain to be off from the $166.5M ticket sales that the frame rang up a year ago. That’s when Walt Disney’s Angelina Jolie Sleeping Beauty spinoff Maleficent worked its magic at the B.O. with a $69.4M opening.

Aloha is the second widest opener today in 2,815 venues. Crowe’s previous outing, the PG-rated We Bought a Zoo, was quite the Christmas sleeper in 2011 when it bowed to $9.4M and generated a crazy 8x multiple for a final domestic cume of $75.6M. While Aloha is expected to only make $8M-$10M this weekend, the hope is that the star-filled film (with Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams) will stick around as counter-programming throughout the summer.

Last year he spent two months in Queensland, Australia filming disaster flick San Andreas.

And it certainly seems like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson picked up some of the local culture during that time.

The 43-year-old made a special appearance on Nine’s coverage of Wednesday’s NRL State Of Origin, introducing the first of up to three New South Wales vs. Queensland clashes.

‘Origin,’ Johnson began. ‘It’s who you are. Where you’re from. Your ancestry. Blood, bone and meat. It’s parentage. Kin and race. Pedigree, dissent, stock.’

‘New South Wales versus Queensland. Played as only these superman can. Lighting up their birthplaces…this is where only the excellent excel.’

The A-list actor and former college football player paid tribute to some of the NRL’s greats, praising Allan ‘Alfie’ Langer, who has a medal named after him, all-time great Andrew ‘Joey’ Johns and current star player Greg Inglis.

Last April Johnson spent two months in Queensland, which at the time he called his ‘home away from home’ – so it’s not hard to guess what team he’s rooting for.

The annual State Of Origin is a best-of-three rugby series that pits the best players from New South Wales clubs against the best from Queensland – with each game selling out 50,000 and 80,000 seat stadiums.

Following The Rock’s introduction, Australian actor Ben Mingay, representing Queensland, had a musical clash with Shannon Noll, who wore NSW colours.

Johnson was last seen at the Los Angeles premiere of blockbuster disaster flick San Andreas on Tuesday.

The eight-time WWE Champion made a grand entrance, hanging off the side of a fire truck, before posing with mother Ata and daughter Simone.

He surely hopes to recapture the success of his last silver screen appearance, which was on Furious 7 – which is currently the fourth highest grossing film of all time.

Who cares if the movie is good? The promo efforts have already been worth it.

San Andreas may wind up being a gloomy, dreadful disaster movie, the kind of pessimistic apocalypse porn that this weekend’s would-be blockbuster Tomorrowland specifically called out for ruining, well, everything. But no matter what the movie itself holds, it’s hard to imagine any film this summer being promoted with the kind of cheerful, anything-for-a-headline verve that The Rock has been bringing these last few weeks.

A wrestler turned movie star who can make virtually anything seem like a good time, The Rock has jumped into promotional duties for San Andreas with the kind of energy that might seem exhausting, or grating, from anyone else. He teamed up with a YouTube video interview series to conduct a surprise wedding (and got licensed by the State of California to make it legal and everything):

He’s fended off marriage proposals of his own:

He’s doomed the dreams of the class of 2015:

He’s set a Guinness World Record—certified and everything!—for the most selfies taken within a three-minute period.

Sure, some of this is just your typical works of promotion in the social-media age—why do a regular talk-show appearance when you can do a sketch that goes viral? Why have an Instagram if not to stroke the egos of your fervent fans? (#FromMyHeart). But The Rock, who has basically been ever present since the Furious 7 promotional duties started up in March, is just better at it than everyone else. No one else deserves the Guinness World Record for selfies because no one else would seem to enjoy it as much as this guy does. No one else deserves to have become a star thanks to a lot of ridiculous movies because no one else could make it seem like a wonderful reward after a lot of hard work. San Andreas may not do the world any good as a movie, but The Rock is enough of a gift to humanity to make up for it.

As you know Dwayne The Rock Johnson has been a very busy man the last year. He was on overload at one time filming two movies and a tv show. (Yes, you read correctly) He even had time to revisit his roots and attend WrestleMania 31, where he cut a promo with UFC star Ronda Rousey. Not to mention that same weekend, the day before to be exact, Dwayne hosted Saturday Night Live for the 4th time.

The following weekend, The Rock saw a movie franchise he helped take to new heights break open the box office. That’s right, the seventh movie installment of The Fast and The Furious, Furious 7 became the #1 movie. It not only took the record of highest opening in April, it remained #1 for a number of weeks.

Now next weekend May 29th, the earth shattering, mega disaster movie San Andreas will show its epicness. This movie is the story of Ray Gaines and how far he will go to save not only his family but the whole city.

If you think I was done, I’m not. During the filming of the TV show and movies, Dwayne broke the news that he will play Black Adam in Shazam. He also made known that he will have a role in the animated tale Moana. Last but I’m sure not the end, The Rock Goes to Baywatch.
