One of the remaining employees informs them that Lance is starting a new company to compete with Spencer and he’s almost taken everyone, including their roster of action sports celebrities like Tony Hawk and Laird Hamilton. Additionally, Lance tries to turn AEM’s investors, including Terrell “Sizzle” Suggs, against them. Spencer and Joe rush to keep the TV channel operational and seize what’s left of their shrinking talent roster. Spencer decides to humble himself by apologizing to Lance and asking him to rejoin Sports X. Lance counters with a new offer: Sell the company back to him at half price and leave the business entirely. Joe’s not interested and turns Lance down.

Spencer learns that Sports X’s star surfer, Parker, is ducking a potentially lucrative sponsored event, so Spencer and Joe visit him to try and repair his relationship with Lance. The young surfer tells them that he doesn’t trust Lance because Parker’s skin tone was darkened in an advertisement connected to a recent sponsor campaign; he wants to be known primarily for his surfing, not his racial identity. Spencer advocates for Parker with Lance and the sponsors, demanding that they fix his skin tone or he won’t compete. The sponsors counter with the threat of a lawsuit. Parker agrees to compete and wear the sponsor’s logo, but after winning the contest, raises his fist in protest, angering Sports X’s clients and Lance.

In between juggling Parker’s conflict with Lance, Spencer follows up on a favor for Jason. Jason’s longtime friend, Jayda, has a son named Quincy who is a standout football prospect, and Spencer agrees to help her navigate the college recruitment process. Spencer meets with Jayda over drinks and offers his assistance, but declines her request to meet with Quincy because meeting with an amateur would violate league rules.

Jason encourages Ricky to ask Charles to help him return to the league. Charles reluctantly agrees to give him a chance, but demands that he work out for the team before offering a contract.
