With all the flair of his signature move, Dwayne Johnson leapt from wrestling’s top ropes to become a major box office draw. In the latest issue of British GQ, the People’s Champion speaks to us about depression, delinquency and his play for politics. Donald Trump: watch your ass!

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on being ‘The Rock’
“The Rock was – still is in fact - the best role I will ever get to play. I was being me, but me turned all the way up to ten. I could say anything, do anything and I would wink and everyone was in on the joke. They got it, I was connecting, it was perfect. But I couldn’t help feeling like I had achieved everything I had wanted to in wrestling. By the end of 1998 I was the youngest world champion and making a lot of money, but I wanted to know what was next.”

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on the roles he chooses
“My choices are based on two things and they are both equally important. The first is: will I enjoy it? Then second: will people enjoy it on a mass scale? And I like that, because it is an opportunity for me to entertain globally. The bottom line, I am in the business of making movies for people, making content for people. And that means people all over the world. Because as soon as you start thinking on a global scale, you are making more people happy, you are making more money, you are making the studios more money, you are making everybody happy. That in turn creates more opportunity. And that’s what I am looking for.”

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on a political future
“I’ll be honest, I haven’t ruled politics out. I’m not being coy when I say that, but at the moment I am not sure. I can’t deny that the thought of being governor, the thought of being president, is alluring. And beyond that, it would be an opportunity to make a real impact on people’s lives on a global scale. But there are a lot of other things I want to do first.”

Dwayne Johnson could power a small city with all that charisma surging through his big, bulging, veiny muscles (he can also help you keep track of the time with this nifty Rock Clock — he’s a rock of all trades), but he has a poetic side, too. In a lyrical black-and-white Instagram post, the superstar teased his involvement in the F. Gary Gray–directed Fast & Furious 8. Johnson, who stars alongside thirst trap Zac Efron and this meme in the upcoming Baywatch, writes:

When you strip a man of all he has. All that’s important to him. You force him to return to his roots.. and sometimes that’s a very dangerous and twisted place.
If I was going to return for another FAST & FURIOUS I wanted to come in and disrupt the franchise in a cool way that got fans fired up and their blood pumping to see a new version of Hobbs and his “Daddy’s gotta go to work” mentality and set the table in a cool way for where the character goes in the future.
Maybe it’s a spinoff movie. Maybe it’s more #FF movies. Or hell maybe Hobbs just gets on his motorcycle and rides off into the sunset never to be seen again.
Either way, I’ve had a solid first week of shooting, good to be back with the ohana, good to work again w/ my bud and director F. Gary Gray and our home studio of UNIVERSAL, as always have been the best partners to me and my #SevenBucksProds team. Most importantly… you guys around the world will really dig this new version of the role, ’cause as we always say, disrupters dent the universe.

Shared cinematic universes are all the rage now that Marvel has successfully steered theirs, and every major Hollywood studio wants a piece of the pie. The newest one? It will be based around the works of the late Robert Ludlum.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal now wants a Robert Ludlum Cinematic Universe that will kick off with The Janson Directive, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The studio already has a Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe in the works.

James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man) has been tapped to write the screenplay for The Janson Directive from a story co-authored with Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman, and is also one of the team that will spearhead a series of movies based on Ludlum’s novels. Ludlum is, of course, known the world over for his Jason Bourne series of novels, and his spy thrillers have sold over than 300 million copies worldwide.

On top of writing The Janson Directive, Vanderbilt will also co-author two more stories/treatments based on Ludlum’s books, which have yet to be revealed. Those treatments will then be adapted into screenplays by other screenwriters.

The Janson Directive centers on Paul Janson, an ex-Navy SEAL and former government operative who has become the best private security consultant in the world. When he is framed for the murder of a Nobel laureate, and several U.S. officials are assassinated, Janson must join forces with the protégé who was sent to kill him in order to solve the mystery of a decades-old conspiracy and survive.

How Johnson will feature into future films is still unclear, but the busy actor is super excited about bringing Paul Janson to life on the big screen:

“The Janson Directive is classic Robert Ludlum,” Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter. “Sharp, edgy and layered storylines. The character is complex, conflicted, bad ass and lethal — I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this and bring him to life. Between Jamie, Akiva, Captivate and Universal, it’s an exciting time to help produce and build out this awesome Ludlum universe.”

How he’ll fit the movie into his busy schedule remains to be seen. Johnson just wrapped Baywatch and will soon begin shooting Jumanji and Fast 8. He’s also got Rampage, San Andreas 2 and a few more movie projects in the works, including his Shazam! comic book movie and a mystery Shane Black project that may or may not be Doc Savage.

What do you think about The Janson Directive coming to the big screen with Dwayne Johnson in the title role? Is a Robert Ludlum Cinematic Universe one too many?

Dwayne Johnson will soon be playing a game for those who wish to find a way to leave their world behind in Sony’s upcoming reboot of Jumanji. And with shooting on the film is expected to begin this fall, Johnson took to Instagram to clarify a few details about the reboot — and pay tribute to original Jumanji star Robin Williams.

Calling the reboot “a new re-imagining of this amazing story,” Johnson wrote that the new family-friendly film will draw more from Chris Van Allsburg’s original children’s book than the 1995 hit movie, which starred Bradley Pierce, Kirsten Dunst, and Bonnie Hunt. Still, Johnson promised that the new Jumanji will recognize the late Williams in some way.

“The love and respect I have for this man is boundless,” Johnson wrote. “You have my word, we will honor his name and the character of ‘Alan Parrish’ will stand alone and be forever immortalized in the world of JUMANJI in an earnest and cool way. I have an idea of what to do and I think his family will be proud.”

Johnson also shared the story of the first time he met Williams — and was so intimidated he could barely speak.

“I also think Robin is somewhere lookin’ down and laughing, remembering the first time we met backstage and I (for the first time ever) was a star struck bumbling idiot that couldn’t even get my words out,” he added. “Idiot. He literally calmed me down w/ that smile and laugh.”

So far, The Rock is the only official cast member to sign on, but last month, EW confirmed that Kevin Hart was also in very early talks to join the cast. In his Instagram post, Johnson added that instead of the original film’s three main roles, the reboot has five, and additional casting info should be announced this week.

Bad Teacher director Jake Kasdan is helming the project, and Johnson is also serving as producer, alongside Matt Tolmach. The new Jumanji is slated to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is muscling his way onto YouTube in a big new way.

Seven Bucks Productions, co-founded by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia, this summer will launch a new YouTube channel in partnership with Studio71, the digital entertainment company and multichannel network owned by ProSiebenSat.1 Group.

The new channel, Seven Bucks Digital Studios, will feature the Rock’s own videos as well as showcase his production shingle’s other projects along with other creators. The YouTube channel promises monthly collaborations with top digital talent as well as an “action-filled” scripted online series.

“Other than my family, social media is my strongest relationship and it’s allowed me to connect on a very direct and personal level with fans globally,” Johnson said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to partner with the world-class team at Studio71 to deliver cool, compelling and entertaining content for audiences around the world to enjoy.”

Johnson’s existing YouTube channel, which has served as an outlet for trailers and video from his projects, has about 58,000 subscribers and has been infrequently updated.

The ex-wrestler, who has more than 100 million followers on social media, announced the new YouTube channel on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram:

“Through Seven Bucks Productions, Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia have built an entertainment brand that crosses all mediums, and we see this as an organic expansion of Johnson’s huge online presence,” said Dan Weinstein, president of Studio71.

The Seven Bucks Productions slate includes movies such as Paramount’s “Baywatch,” New Line Cinema’s “Shazam,” Universal Pictures’ “The Janson Directive” and DreamWorks Animation’s “Alpha Squad Seven.” The company also produces original TV series including TNT’s “The Hero” and “Wake Up Call,” HBO’s “Ballers” and Spike TV’s “Rock the Troops.”

The plans for the Seven Bucks Digital Studios channel were among the announcements being featured at Studio71’s Digital Content NewFronts presentation to ad execs Tuesday in NYC. In the U.S., Studio71 was previously known as Collective Digital Studio.

Also at the NewFronts event, Studio71 announced that Hormel Black Label Bacon signed on for its third year as the official bacon of “Epic Meal Time,” the cooking network hosted by Harley Morenstein, and that it is working with Smashbox Cosmetics for another season of the “Made at Smashbox” series featuring social-media style influencers.

In addition, the company highlighted four new shows: “Text Committee,” about averting social-media faux pas led by actor and social-media star Matthew Espinosa; “Family Fun Day,” a day-in-the-life look at YouTube’s Family Fun Pack; “Good Mythical Crew,” taking viewers behind the scenes of Rhett & Link’s popular “Good Mythical Morning” talk show; and “Coolest Thing I’ve Ever Made,” a showcase of backyard inventors, creators and makers hosted by Matthew Santoro.

Studio71’s network of 1,200 channels generates some 5 billion monthly views, which the company claims gives it the highest numbers of views per channel of any YouTube multichannel network.

Dwayne turned the double 4 today. Over the past 16 years, DJ has shown us that there is more to him than hitting The Rock Bottom and People’s Elbow. He is still known as The People’s Champion but in a new way.

Dwayne has been inspiring fans throughout his career, but over the past few years, he has shown them a new way to stay motivated. He not only brightens sick children’s faces, but he shows others how to stay on track in their daily lives.

True, he’s a handsome caring guy, but what allows him to stand out is his undying push to obtain more in life. Recently, he launched Project Rock to help us strive to be better people. He is always giving. DJ even gave us a gift on his birthday. The Rock clock. This is an app to help us wake up and stay motivated to pursue our daily goals.

Through it all the truest icon to me and team bring it is you DJ. We love you and wish you all the best.

The Rock’s music hits and out he comes to a pop. He has a big flamethrower and shoots it in the air around the stage as his music plays. He stops and lights up big letters spelling his name. Finally he makes his way to the ring and stops to flirt with a cheerleader as they are all lined the ramp for him.

Rock poses for the fans and they chant “Rocky” when he goes to the corners. The music stops and Rock looks around. The Rock says finally he’s back in Dallas and at WrestleMania. He talks about being on fire in his entrance, the Cowboys cheerleaders and the crowd. Rock says he sees a lot of happy people, a lot of smiling faces. Rock says people are so happy they will go home and make little WrestleMania babies. Rock says this is what he’s talked about for months, the privilege of walking down the aisle and coming to the ring. He goes on to do his “and millions” intro. Rock announces we’ve officially broken the WWE WrestleMania attendance record with 101,763 in attendance. His music hits as the cameras check out the big crowd and pyro goes off. Rock says its about to get hot now but the lights go out and here comes The Wyatt Family – Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan.

They stop at ringside and Wyatt introduces his family. They stand on the apron and Wyatt says he came here not as a friend, not as an enemy, but as a reminder of the truth. Wyatt says the truth is, he chose Rock because he represents success, he represents greatness, a lie. Wyatt enters the ring and says Rock represents a lie. Wyatt says this is not Rock’s moment, it’s not the fans moment. They boo. Wyatt says this is his moment, Mr. Rock. Wyatt says he’s going to eviscerate Rock and make his people watch every second of it. Rock looks like he’s thinking about it.

Rock knocks Wyatt for interrupting the fun and mocks the way he talks. Rock says Wyatt sounds like he’s been hitting the bong for 8 days straight. Strowman and Rowan come in now and they’re upset. Rock says clearly Rowan’s parents are related and Strowman looks like he’s been breast fed since he was an adult. Rock says he’s had his eye on Wyatt since he came into WWE because he’s got it all – the ability, the charisma, the look. Fans cheer. Rock goes on praising Wyatt for how he captivates people. Rock asks what does Wyatt do with all this? He comes out and knocks on a door he doesn’t want answered by threatening The Rock. Rock says Wyatt looks more like the Eater of Hot Pockets. Wyatt says he didn’t come to knock on some door, he came to kick one down. Wyatt says Rock has no idea who he’s fooling with. Rock takes his shirt off and the crowd pops. Rock says they’re not going to fight, they’re having as match. He calls for a referee and says it can be Wyatt or his two Duck Dynasty inbreed bitches but someone is getting kicked all over Dallas. Rock takes off his shirt and he’s got his gear on – trunks, pads, boots. The crowd pops.

The Rock vs. Erick Rowan

Rowan meets Rock in the middle of the ring and fans chant “this is awesome” as the referee calls for the bell. Rock immediately hits a Rock Bottom and covers for the pin.

Winner: The Rock

After the bell, Lilian announces Rock the winner in 6 seconds. His music hits and Cole says Rock just set another record. The Wyatts surround the ring and get ready to attack Rock. John Cena’s music hits as the crowd erupts and starts singing their own version of his theme song. Cena runs to the ring and gets ready to fight.

They go at it and Strowman takes a Rock Bottom. Cena with the slam and Five Knuckle Shuffle, then Attitude Adjustment on Rowan. Wyatt attacks Cena from behind as Rock nails Strowman off the apron. Cena blocks Sister Abigail and Rock unloads on Wyatt. Rock hits a spinebuster and The People’s Elbow on Wyatt. Wyatt rolls to the floor as Rock grabs a mic. Rock welcomes Cena back and closes it with his “if ya smell….” line. Rock’s music hits and they hug before hitting the corners to pose. Rock goes to ringside to greet family members as Cena walks up the ramp. Rock comes right behind him and they stop on the stage together. Cena raises Rock’s arm and they hug again before leaving together. We go to break.

Dwayne Johnson and his girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, hit the beach for a walk with their dog Hobbs in Miami on Thursday. The shirtless star, who is currently in Florida while filming the Baywatch movie, showed off his buff body and tattoos while hanging on to Hobbs’s leash and posing for cute photos with him on the sand.

To say that it’s already been a busy year for Dwayne is sort of an understatement; not only has he been shooting the big-screen adaptation of the classic ’90s show with Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, and Kelly Rohrbach — just see these superhot workout pics of him and Zac this week — but he’s also gearing up to host the MTV Movie Awards with Kevin Hart next month. If that wasn’t exciting enough, Dwayne and Lauren welcomed their baby daughter Jasmine in December, and he’s been taking to social media to share their adorable bonding moments.

It’s something that no one should have to go through: battling the deadly disease that is cancer, and even worse, having to do it as a child. While many children are outside playing, picking flowers, and riding bikes, there are those like seven-year-old Gabriel “Tater” Singleton who are fighting just to stay alive after being dealt such a cruel card in life.

Gabriel has been in cancer treatment for four years, and it’s no doubt been painful and exhausting for both him and his family. The little fella from Georgia has only one wish, according to his mother, and it’s to Meet Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson; the actor inspires the little boy to keep fighting the Neuroblastoma with which he’s been diagnosed.

Gabriel’s mom explains in an interview with WRCBTV that when the little boy began to lose his hair, he felt self-conscious.

“He was kind of embarrassed about his bald head. So I would pull up The Rock’s Instagram account and I’d say, ‘Look! The Rock is bald and he’s so strong and he’s awesome. You’re just like him,'”

The little boy has now become the former wrestler’s biggest fan, and with the help of his mom’s digital media campaign to get Dwayne Johnson’s attention, he hopes to finally meet his idol in person.

Incredibly, the Internet is picking up on this little boy’s story and his determination to have his wish come true is catching fire with social media users…it’s only a matter of time before we hopefully see the pair proudly displaying their bald heads. Until then, keep fighting, Tater!
